June 20, 1943 – Father’s Day – Sunday
” Got up at 8 a.m. but later lay down and dozed off and what a miserable dream. Stayed home all day. Feeling much better – took it easy. Was warm this a.m. but turned cold this p.m. Have oven burning. Don’t know yet why the air raid, blackout last night. Sprained my wrist punching “signal cards” – sure swollen.“
